In ancient Thai boxing methods, strips of fabric would be wrapped around the fighter's hand and then dipped in resin and shards of glass in order to cause damage to the opponent. Today, Muay Thai incorporates past medicaments such as the Prajiet, a band placed around the arm (similar to a Karate belt), and Mongkol, which is placed on the head in the opening of every match in a traditional ceremony.
